Digital media, in the new world everything is digital from newspapers to how we consume video from youtube to Netflix and tv shows. This unit showed me how important editors and people in the media industry are with the first task of research.
Task 2 was the hardest for me as I find it quite hard ta design and it doesn’t come as natural to me as editing and mixing sound. I tried really hard and did my research but I still found it hard. I tend to create systematically that’s where my OCD kicks in that I need to used the round numbers and it has to be symmetrical. This is what I created in my newspaper.
As for my showreel, it’s intended to be future proof, since the edit is systematical and to show the project how it is intended to be used rather than in a showreel. Overall I also hate research but this opened my eyes that it’s important in production as without having carried out good research before hand the end result won’t be up to the standard required.
Everything in this unit was visual the way I like it but this had a set back to me as I was trying to create the horizontal lines form the images but I didn’t see it fit.
Tips given by both lecturers were very useful even when using rectangles to measure it digitally.
Overall a very good learning experience and one which I intend to put into practise while producing future works.
There isn’t a publication where publically admits to using InDesign publically but rather internally. The only relevant article I could find the following, a comparison between Photoshop and InDesign when creating a print design.
Everyone at MCAST head about the website Behance a networking site for self-promotion. Fun fact it is owned by Adobe this helps its users to share items done on their software.
The Illustrations and designs are made by Tubik Studios. This company also makes illustrations for Ribbet. Ribbet is an APP, online API that helps users edit their photos. But even if you want a t-shirt a custom bag etc. just insert your logo, and you can also order them from their store directly. Instead of paying a local designer Ribbet hires designers to create mass designs that they are used to be modelled to the customer needs.
One of the designers that are hired by Ribbet at Tubik Studios is Evgeniy Tomashevsky. Evgeniy Tomashevsky is from Ukraine and also uses Behance to share his work with others.
Evgeniy Tomashevsky uses illustrator daily to create these marvelling designs. How he creates them is that first he grabs a pen and paper and starts drawing, then after many iterations of the drawing steps back and looks. Then it’s off to the scanner to scan the masterpiece that is already created.
Once an Analogue/Digital copy is made this is raster image is placed in illustrator and re-pen drew line by line. When this is done, the shapes are filled in with colour according to what fits.
– Experiment-
Trying to recreate Part 2 poster in illustrator.
This took a couple of hours to recreate. It’s the first time for me to create images in Illustrator and use clipping masks. My only disappointment is that I didn’t manage to create masks with gradient, hence the not natural blending between the images.
On the whole, i am proud of my self of accomplishing this result. Going head on to this task I didn’t know what I could achieve.

The fake newspaper will consist of the theme technology and the lack of in our country.
The headline is the abundant service from ISP’s in this small country, the stories the media is afraid to share.
The headline picture will have a split screen with the customer on the line with a computer in the background saying internet unavailable while banging his or her head with a wall. While on the other side an image of the Isp technician sipping coffee and not doing anything.
The Main reason photoshop is used is to edit photos or anything that has to do with raster based images. Other uses for PhotoShop are resizing, photo restoration, website graphics, website designs and animation.
Josselin Cornou is a famous Photoshopper who is featured in a blog post on the Adobe Blogs.
The previous image is an effortless use of photoshop. Just a use the Black and white tool to create the black and white effect. Then pipette the top colour and form a blank layer on it. After using the gradient fill with a mask to create a gradient effect.
Experiment
The first thing I do is place the item in their place.
Here I blurred the background to give the foreground more importance.
The images where too blunt so using a mask to Blend them together helps.
The title text wasn’t prominent enough, so a contrasting colour on the outside helped.
Also breaking up the images using an oval pen tool gives the look of a professional feel.
The Logos where being drowned in the colour that’s behind them.
And this is the Final Output.

Knowing how to use the pen tool in illustrator is like knowing how to write with a pen. This is the basis of Illustrator since it is a Vector image and these are made up of lines.. Using the pen tool in the background.
Creating Different paths for the highlights, shadows and mid tones.
Today I found out that Deadpool (2016), Gone Girl (2014) and Hail, Caesar! (2016) Have 1 thing in common, they are all edited in Premiere Pro. Usually, films are edited in Avid Media Composer but since 2014 since when the creative cloud was born more and more independent filmmakers, and production houses are using Premiere.
The Adobe Creative Cloud is a group of programmes that work seamlessly with each other to give a smoother experience to the editor. So if I create an image in photoshop, I can link it within premiere without exporting in Tiff. For example. This also helps when fixing a simple thing in photoshop continuing to the previous case, since the file is linked nothing needs to be reported. Hence making the life of the editor easier.
Back to the films being edited nowadays on Premiere, it’s still a high production value movie and this way we can see that Adobe is expanding into the market and giving the people what they want regarding software compatibility and ease of use.
The Editor of Deadpool Julian Clarke explains how it’s effortless to integrate with After Effects a compositing programme, instead then exporting each time and using the application just to cut and dissolve you can use premiere to link to the composting software and seamlessly edit and fix minor details rather than phoning the composting company to have it sent to you the next day.
The following experiment is a project I did voluntarily for my local band club about the history of the same band club its self on the anniversary of the 110 years from the first time it started.
Although the sound was edited in ProTools with a bunch of audio processing on the Voice Over and automation for the music, the rest was edited in Premiere Pro with After Effects to track and create an easily the blur effect shown below.
Now since I have a 5 monitor set up a build for editing, I use all the available screen space to efficiently and quickly use the programme and lose less time on finding stuff.
When I use any type of programme, I organise everything the best I can.
Each time I edit a new Project I like to take it a step further by learning new techniques and trying to improve as I go. Below you can find the finished edit on YouTube.

It’s essential to have a blog in order using categories with a sleek and easy to use interface.
When laying out the top header its good to break it into subcategories.

The difference between Photoshop and Illustrator is that one is Raster (Photoshop) and the other is the vector. In both cases before starting a project to know your output size mostly when using Raster-based images. Since raster wors with pixels rather than lines so when it comes to enlarging it’s almost impossible as the pixels will just get bigger.
Photoshop is mainly used to edit images while illustrator is primarily used to create Illustrations for high-resolution print example Billboards.
This is a sketch i did without any color a simple way to outline the subject.
The first step is that to resize the image in Photoshop so it can be ready for the web. Doing this in photoshop is less fiddle than doing it in Illustrator.
After used the Vector tool to scan the image and then with the pen tool edit the paths to suite my needs after color in the image using the desired colors.
The following was the original image given to us by the lecturer.
